The Aircraft Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that assigned aircraft are maintained within required specifications of 14 CFR Parts 43, 91 and 125 and other FAA and DOD regulations, OEM instructions and CBP directives as required and are airworthy before operation. Principal Accountabilities include inspecting the work of Aircraft Mechanics performing maintenance repairs and modifications on aircraft structures, engines, electrical, avionics and sub-systems; applying technical knowledge to determine proper equipment installation and operation; assisting maintenance department to solve complex problems by interpreting technical documentation; making entries in aircraft logs and records; performing receiving, in-process, final quality, flight safety inspections and functional operational tests during maintenance, modification and repair of military tactical aircraft systems; approving or rejecting work to ensure compliance with specifications and standards; reviewing and approving locally developed procedures; analyzing defects and quality control trends; monitoring safety, training, and certification requirements; performing daily work site Safety and Foreign Object Damage Inspections; monitoring tool control programs and maintaining calibration records; maintaining Quality, Safety, Training and Certification Records; coordinating with Customer Quality Assurance Representative; inspecting forms and records related to aircraft maintenance; monitoring maintenance department programs such as engine oil consumption, hydraulic contamination, NDI, electrical static discharge, employee certification, confined space entry, tool control, foreign object damage, material control, weight and balance, fall protection and safety programs; assisting in development and maintenance of ground and flight operation SOPs, quality and safety plans; briefing and debriefing functional check flights; using basic computer skills to access technical references and training requirements; documenting maintenance per QA and regulatory requirements; complying with work order timekeeping; maintaining cleanliness and performing weekly Foreign Object Damage walk-downs; maintaining situational awareness and mitigating risks; complying with DHS/DOD processes and procedures; reporting missing or unattended tools; maintaining and controlling tools per policy; cleaning work areas and handling hazardous materials per laws; complying with safety rules and reporting accidents or unsafe practices; performing weekly break room and smoking area cleaning; and other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Must obtain and maintain CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance (US Citizenship required); High School Diploma or equivalent; five years experience in multi-engine propeller aircraft; valid Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) License; valid FAA Inspection Authorization (IA); ability to obtain government flight line driver’s license; valid US driver’s license; ability to provide technical support to engineers and customers; excellent organizational skills; ability to read and interpret data; proficiency in English; physical ability to perform various tasks including lifting up to 40 pounds, working in cramped positions, wearing PPE for HAZMAT operations; may work night shifts and in hangar or outside; some domestic travel may be required.
