Position Summary:
Supporting the mission of the USCCA, the Director of Education and Training Development at Delta Defense is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping, implementing, and promoting educational programs that advance safe, responsible firearms ownership and self-defense education.
The ideal candidate is an experienced curriculum strategist and adult education leader who thrives at the intersection of training, content creation, true learning, and nationwide partner engagement.

This opportunity requires 10+ years experience in adult education, training program management, or curriculum development specific to firearms handling and safety . Candidates who do not meet this qualification wont be considered.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement training programs :
- Lead the creation and evolution of USCCA's training catalog, including, but not limited to: curriculum, training videos, eLearning modules, mini-lessons, and official partner event programs.
- Work with internal teams to ensure that all training content is educationally sound, legally accurate, and engaging for adult learners.
- Ensure all training materials align with USCCAs core values of responsibility, protection, and legal compliance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with content creators, legal experts, and instructional designers to develop impactful learning experiences.
- Support scalable delivery through digital platforms, print resources, and in-person instruction.
- Promote USCCAs educational mission :
- Represent USCCA publicly at industry events, educational forums, and partner meetings.
- Serve as a visible advocate for safe and responsible firearms education and training through media, publications, and outreach campaigns.
- Create content (e.g., articles, videos) that communicates the benefits of responsible gun ownership and ongoing education.
- Drive financial and operational performance :
- Oversee the departments annual operating budget, planning, oversight, and financial forecasting.
- Strategically allocate resources across content production, training events, and partner support.
- Analyze return on investment (ROI) and optimize spend based on member acquisition, learning impact, and partner engagement.
- Oversee vendor relationships and contract negotiations, when applicable.
- Lead and mentor training staff :
- Manage, develop, mentor, and grow a diverse, multidisciplinary team of curriculum developers, project managers, instructional designers, instructors, and content producers.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate team members to maintain a high-performance culture.
- Ensure professional development and alignment with USCCAs mission. Align team operations with broader strategic and financial goals.
- Foster internal team collaboration :
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to identify internal training needs and ensure that all teamsfrom sales to customer engagementare equipped with consistent, mission-aligned, and up-to-date training tools and messaging.
- Partner with the sales team to educate ranges, stores, and instructors about curriculum offerings and the value of USCCA membership.
- Continuously gather feedback from internal teams to inform curriculum evolution and address real-time challenges affecting customer and partner experiences.
- Work with the marketing team to align messaging and materials, ensuring seamless integration between education, promotional content, and brand positioning.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and professional development across departments to build a unified, informed, and inspired organizational culture centered on responsible self-defense education.
- Stay current on industry trends and legal compliance :
- Develop assessment tools and metrics to measure the effectiveness of training programs.
- Analyze data and feedback to continuously improve training content and delivery methods.
- Ensure program quality and continuous improvement :
- Continue to build USCCA as a national training organization.
- Use learner and partner feedback, assessments, and instructional audits to evaluate program effectiveness and drive meaningful improvements. Conduct regular needs assessments and audits of all training programs and delivery methods.
- Drive enhancements in training delivery, learner engagement, and outcomes.
- Champion a culture of data-driven, mission-aligned instructional excellence.
- Oversee compliance and accreditation.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
- Bachelors Degree ( minimum requirement ); Masters or Doctorate in education, training and development, or a related field preferred.
- 10+ years experience in adult education, training program management, or curriculum development specific to firearms handling and safety .
- Holds a deep understanding of andragogical principles and instructional design to effectively develop and deliver educational programs.
- Demonstrable expertise in curriculum strategy tailored for diverse learning environments, including eLearning, instructor-led training, and hybrid/blended formats.
- Background in/experience with self-defense principles, firearms safety, and legal use of force.
- Strong understanding of scenario-based education, legal context, family considerations, and mental and emotional preparedness, with emphasis on distinctions from military/tactical training.
- Strong capabilities to operate within budget constraints while demonstrating return on investment (ROI) for educational initiatives.
- Ability to inspire trust and enthusiasm among strategic partners, USCCA members, and internal teams and stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for educational goals.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven leadership in high-performing teams across firearms/self-defense instruction and content creation.

Target annual salary range $150,000 - $180,000 commensurate with experience. Role is eligible for a company bonus.
This position can be performed in our beautiful headquarters in West Bend, Wisconsin, on a hybrid schedule, or remotely.
