Job Title: Payroll Clerk
Pay Range: $24 – $29 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (occasional overtime required)

Key Staffing’s client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Clerk/Specialist to join their team. This role requires recent hands-on payroll experience, strong knowledge of California wage and hour laws, and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities:

• Calculate and audit employee timecard records with accuracy.

• Maintain time and attendance records; operate Time & Labor systems.

• Collaborate in processing the full payroll cycle.

• Ensure compliance with California wage and hour laws, including overtime regulations and Regular Rate of Pay calculations.

• Perform accurate numerical data entry across multiple worksheets.

• Create and maintain Excel worksheets utilizing Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, and other functions.

• Complete wage and overtime calculations for payroll payments, final checks, pay advances, retroactive payments, etc.

• Assist with pre- and post-payroll audits, identifying errors and processing corrections with the Payroll Manager’s support.

Qualifications:

• 2–3 years of recent experience calculating and auditing timecard records.

• 2–3 years of experience in full payroll cycle processing.

• Strong understanding of California wage and hour laws, overtime rules, and Regular Rate of Pay calculations.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and advanced Excel functions (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP).

• Accurate numerical data entry skills.

• College education in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Human Resources highly recommended.

• Ability to work onsite in an office environment.
