Overview:

A well-established and growing client of ours in the real estate industry is seeking an experienced Property Accountant to join their team. This individual will oversee a variety of accounting responsibilities related to property operations and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, experience mentoring others, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to internal standards.
• Monitor key financial areas such as inventory, aged receivables, and vendor payments.
• Manage general ledger activities and oversee the monthly close process, including reconciliations and account analysis.
• Post daily and monthly journal entries, ensuring accuracy in the general ledger.
• Analyze financial trends and operational metrics related to property performance, revenue, expenses, and cash flow.
• Support year-end audit activities and provide required documentation and analysis.
• Assist with maintaining and improving financial systems, including interfaces between operational and accounting platforms.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
• Maintain compliance with current accounting principles (GAAP) and internal financial policies.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and reporting requests as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field (required)
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience in either public or corporate settings
• Strong understanding of GAAP and the full accounting cycle
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and familiarity with general ledger and billing systems
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
