The type of food you can feed your dog

Getting a dog into a healthy eating routine is not an easy task. If this seems too complex to you, you should remind yourself that the amount of time and effort required in the beginning will not be as much effort later on.

You must remember that the eating habits of dogs vary from dog to dog. Every dog has different preferences. You don’t have to worry too much about the cost of dog food if it is your beloved pet.

You can also eat homemade food from market-prepared food. Supplementing the dog’s vitamin deficiencies is the real deal.

Just because your neighbour’s or friend’s dog is eating or eating healthy doesn’t necessarily mean your dog will be comfortable with the same diet.

What are the essential nutrients in dog food and how do they get them?

Food has two main functions. It gives energy to the body and helps to keep the body healthy. Power depends on several factors. Energy varies by age (growing dogs need more food and older dogs less food), exercise, pregnant or new-mother dogs, and overheating or cold (overheating burns more calories, so more food is needed).

Interestingly, dogs do not need high-carbohydrate or high-sugar foods for energy (although there are some complex carbohydrate foods that provide the necessary fibre) because their bodies cannot digest such foods.

Their main needs are fat (in which they get the necessary energy, protein and through which they gain the ability to absorb vitamins), essential fatty acids (omega 6 and omega 3), protein (essential amino acids) and large amounts of minerals and vitamins.

It is possible to save energy in dogs only through dog food or a natural diet. Dog food companies are trying to replace their manufactured foods with natural foods. But their foods are usually made with inferior, inferior, more complex and unsuitable ingredients than natural foods.

However, domestic dog breeding methods and foreign dog breeding methods are slightly different. Dog leash training is one of them. We will talk about this in detail in another article.

We will know what the dog eats and what the puppy’s food is! We will also get some ideas about making dog food from here.

the meat

Chicken, turkey, beef, and chicken steaks or roasts are animal proteins that can speed up your dog’s growth.

Some rules which are applicable in this case are-

  • Always cook meat well. Never half-cooked or slightly raw cooked meat should be placed in front of them.
  • Foods rich in fat should not be added to the diet.
  • Whole pieces of meat and any human food that is chewable are also good for them to eat. Roasted meat can also be served.
  • Old or spoiled meat should not be given.

vegetables

Vegetables can provide your dog with vitamins, fibre and some canine nutrients. Try serving raw vegetables like finely chopped carrots, cucumber, capsicum, and corn to your dog.

Green beans, Broccoli, Cabbage, Shatamuli, fresh winter vegetables etc. can be eaten half-boiled with light steam.

Avoid giving him avocado as it may not be good for his stomach.

Do not give any vegetable or human food that may cause digestive problems.

summer food

Appropriate food can play a role in keeping a dog from discomfort during the unbearable heat of summer. You can freeze your dog’s favourite foods with applesauce or certain vegetables to help keep him cool. Or ice cube trays can also be used to freeze nutritious foods.

It can be mixed with peanut butter to make fun pops

Mash a ripe banana with a cup of peanut butter (unmelted is better) and mix it with a little water.

Spoon filling and freezing on a cookie sheet.

sweet food

You can feed your dog most fruits except grapes and raisins. Fresh banana slices (without banana peels) can be served with small pieces of watermelon, blueberries and orange peel.

Homemade Sweet Potato Dum can also be a fun recipe that can be prepared like this-

  • Peel the sweet potato and cut it into 1/2-inch pieces.
  • Spread the potato pieces on the cookie sheet.

Medicines can be given through the dog’s food

Some dogs do not want to take medicine. At that time, if the medicine is hidden in the food, they do not realize it. The drug can be hidden in tasty peanut butter (xylitol is toxic when mixed with peanut butter, be careful) or in a marshmallow.

Can be played during medication. What you want to eat can be mixed with other foods and thrown at him and asked him to catch them one by one. He will not realize that he is being drugged.

Liquid medicine can be mixed into roasted meat. If none of these work, stuff the medicine into a hotdog. And if you want, you can get some more ideas from your veterinarian or vet.

Can dogs be given bones?

Chewable toys are safe to use. Chicken and turkey bones are not safe for dogs. Because they contain some very fine sharp parts that can hurt the dog’s mouth. But can you give big beef or cow bones? Experts say they are unsuitable for dogs. Such uncooked meat can contain various types of germs that can cause various diseases. Even some cooked meats can irritate your dog’s digestive system.

Holiday meal routine

Overeating Holiday treats can be harmful to your dog. But if you want, you can give your dog a taste of the holiday celebrations by feeding him nutritious homemade treats.

They will be much happier if you can give them some well-cooked turkey, green beans and some sweet potatoes.

The ingredients which are usually excluded from the daily routine due to its harmful reactions such as milk, onion, garlic etc. should still be excluded. Because your dog is not used to eating them.

Care should be taken while giving chocolate so that it does not become excessive. Both of these are extremely harmful to your dog.

And what you can put in the food list-

the fish

Any type of fish can be served. They especially like marine fish.

the egg

Something made with eggs or boiled eggs two to three times a week will help meet his body’s protein needs.

Fresh fruit

Grapes and avocados contain a lot of sugar, which is harmful to the body, so other fruits can be given without them.

Extra oil

A regular intake of seed oil or sunflower oil once or twice a week can be beneficial for health.

the water

Always keep an eye out to see if your dog is suffering from dehydration. Remember to keep his water bowl full and be sure to change it regularly every day.
